You probably already know that the iPod Nano 8GB is more than an MP3 player but do you know all the ways in which you can play and enjoy your iPod music? In case you’re new to the iPod Nano 8GB, we’ll go over some of the ways you can maximize your enjoyment of your iPod music so you can get the full benefit of this amazing player.

You can easily shuffle your iPod music playlists by shaking your iPod Nano 8GB because there is a motion sensor called an accelerometer in the 4th generation iPod Nano 8GB. In fact, using the shuffle function by shaking your iPod will conserve the battery because you won’t be scrolling through all your songs. In addition, there is also a Genius feature, which will create playlists for you. All you have to do is pick one song and then hold the center button and when the menu appears, start the Genius feature. What will happen is the Genius feature will then create a playlist based on the song you chose. While you can always create playlists manually, the Genius feature saves you trouble and also conserves your battery.

When you do want to find a special song or album, instead of having to scroll through them all, turn your iPod Nano 8GB on its side and your iPod music will be displayed in what is called “Cover Flow.” This is just a fancy name for your CD or album covers. So instead of having to scroll through the name of every song or album, you can quickly choose your selection via Cover Flow. If you want to turn it off, you can; that way, when you tilt your iPod Nano 8GB on its side, Cover Flow won’t automatically come on.

You’ll manage all of your iPod music through iTunes and it is important that you always have the latest version installed on your computer. If, at any time, you are notified that there is a newer version of iTunes available you will need to immediately upgrade in order to purchase music or other media content from the iTunes store. One time I literally spent hours trying to purchase music from the iTunes store; I entered my credit card number over and over again, I rebooted my computer, and still, nothing would work. Frustrated, I emailed iTunes support and when I received a response a few days later, that was the answer. All I had to do was upgrade to the newest version of iTunes. I was so mad that I hadn’t figured that out but I was able to immediately buy the music I had tried so hard to purchase and in no time, I had my iPod Nano 8GB loaded up with the latest iPod music.

You can also convert music you already own into iPod music by uploading your CDs into iTunes and then transferring the new digital files to your iPod Nano 8GB. Many people don’t realize this, but you can even convert your old vinyl albums to iPod music. For less than $100, you can purchase a USB turntable that will not only play your old albums and records, but will convert them into digital music. Then all you have to do is drag the files into iTunes, plug in your iPod Nano 8GB and Voila! Oldies but goodies are instantly turned into iPod music.
