It seems that everyone is talking about Apple’s iPod Nano 8GB, which is why you’ll find more than one iPod Nano Review online. That may be because the 4th generation iPod Nano 8GB has something for everyone; young and old alike will enjoy the tremendous amount of features this little gadget has to offer. When I say little, I mean it literally as it only weights 1.3 ounces, which is 3 times lighter than any of the other iPods. Sleeker and slimmer than the 3rd generation iPod Nano 8GB, this little gadget packs a wallop when it comes to features.

Almost any iPod Nano Review will talk about the storage capacity of the iPod Nano 8GB, which holds up to 2000 songs, 7000 photos, or 8 hours of video. However, this little gem is capable of much more than the standard MP3 player. At just 3.6 inches tall and 1.5 inches wide, the iPod Nano 8GB has a motion sensor that allows you to make certain changes without going through the menu. For example, to enter shuffle mode, which randomizes your selection, just shake it! In case you haven’t read about the accelerometer in another iPod Nano Review, this is the official name of the motion sensor that changes the way the newest iPod Nano 8GB works and plays.

This same motion sensor will enter “Cover Flow” mode when you tilt the iPod on its side. This allows you to choose your selection by viewing cover art. You also have the option to view photos in either landscape or portrait view by using the same tilting motion. Don’t try this when viewing videos, though, as they can only be viewed in landscape mode.

With so many features packed into the iPod Nano 8GB, it’s hard to believe the ultimate MP3 player is less than a quarter of an inch thick. Going green? Not every iPod Nano Review mentions this, but Apple’s latest Nano Child is environmentally friendly and highly recyclable. Before you get to that point, though, let’s look at more of the fun stuff. Another new feature is the integration of a voice recorder, which will start recording the moment you plug in an optional microphone. Each voice memo can be up to 2 hours long and you can easily sync them to your PC or Mac for playback anytime.

The 4th generation iPod Nano 8GB can also be used as an alarm clock and you can store files on it when you use it as an external disk. It also functions as a sleep timer and a stopwatch and you can store notes and calendars on it as well. You can ensure no buttons are accidently pressed on your iPod Nano 8GB by pressing the hold button, but if you want to prevent someone else from using it, you can actually lock the iPod Nano 8GB by setting a combination.

Need to study on the go? You can store and read notes on the Nano instead of lugging your laptop around. In fact, you can sync your iPod Nano 8GB with so many applications on your computer that you may find you no longer need to take your laptop anywhere. What’s more, you can even purchase a separate adaptor so if you’re away from your computer and need to charge your Nano, you can do so by plugging it into a regular outlet. With all the fantastic features the iPod Nano 8GB offers, it’s safe to say that this one’s going to be around awhile.
