Unlike the boxy 3rd generation iPod Nano 8GB, the 4th generation model has returned to a slimmer, taller format. In fact, the newest Nano is the lightest model yet, weighing in at just 1.3 ounces. But let’s get to the fun stuff! Want to shuffle your songs so they’ll play in random order? Instead of having to navigate through the menu, all you have to do is shake your iPod Nano 8GB and you’re instantly in shuffle mode! Simple jostling won’t turn the shuffle mode on and if you don’t want it on at all, you can easily turn it off.

Another cool feature included in the 4th generation iPod Nano 8GB is the Genius feature. Using this feature, you can create a playlist of similar songs just by selecting one song. Once you select one song, a playlist of up to 25 like songs will be instantly created. A voice record feature was also added that turns on instantly when you plug an optional microphone into the iPod Nano 8GB. You can record for up to two hours and you can add chapter marks for easy reference. To be clear, each voice recording or memo recorded on the iPod Nano 8GB can be up to two hours long. For example, if you’ve been recording for two hours and you continue recording, the iPod Nano 8GB will still record but it will have started a new memo.

The motion sensor in the iPod Nano 8GB, which is officially called an accelerometer, allows you to access or change certain features just by tilting the MP3 player. For example, tilt the player on its side to turn on Cover Flow, which lets you browse your album covers to choose your music. You can also choose whether to view your photos in portrait or landscape view, although videos can only be viewed in landscape view on the iPod Nano 8GB. Games also are more exciting to play on the iPod Nano 8GB, thanks to the motion sensor. The 4th generation Nano comes with the game Maze, which allows you to enhance your playing experience by tilting the player on its side for even more exciting game play.

Those who may be visually impaired will appreciate a couple of other features of the 4th generation iPod Nano 8GB. For example, if you have trouble reading the font, you can enlarge it, which will make it much easier to read the otherwise small print. In addition, some of the menus can be spoken when the headphones are plugged in.

The 4th generation iPod Nano 8GB offers an incredible value for the price and outperforms many of the other iPods in several ways. It offers more colors than any of the other models and more battery life, with the exception of the iPod classic. With the integration of video, the iPod Nano 8GB rates right up there with the expensive iPods, yet at only $149, it won’t burn a hole in your wallet.

When you add the Nike + iPod Sport Kit or Sensor, you can integrate your iPod Nano 8GB with your workout regimen. Track your run and get immediate feedback via your iPod Nano 8GB to keep up with your progress. If you work out at a gym, you can plug your iPod Nano 8GB into a special cardio machine and track your progress and your stats. Not only will you be able to view your stats on the cardio machine, but they will be saved to your iPod Nano 8GB also.

Without a doubt, the iPod Nano 8GB is a great buy and offers a great deal of entertainment for those on the go or at home.
